Bayou Meets The Bay Classic Foundation (BMTB)

BMTB Classic Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports Pre-K/T-K and Kindergarten Programs in the Bay Area.

HELP US TO HELP OTHERS!

We build revenue from grants, donations, and events in order to create funding opportunities for Pre-K/T-K and Kindergarten programs to excel.

Welcome!

Welcome to The Bayou Meets The Bay Classic Foundation (BMTB) website. We are dedicated to promoting and supporting early childhood education in the most vulnerable communities, specifically in Pre-K / T-K and Kindergarten programs in the Bay Area. We intend to replicate this model of support in other communities where there is a need. We are focused on promoting and supporting various organizations that implement such programs. We want to contribute to the enhancement of such programs, providing enrichment opportunities that equip classrooms, children, and families with the tools they need to start strong, and develop both academically and holistically.

Our Mission

To provide the necessary resources that will empower children in BIPOC and disadvantaged communities in the Bay Area, funding, strengthening, and enriching Pre-K/T-K and Kindergarten programs that prepare students for lifelong success.

Our Vision

Every child in the Bay Area, regardless of background or income, excels their early childhood education (Pre-K/T-K & Kindergarten) and enters the first grade ready to learn, thrive, and lead.

We believe in supporting and developing life-changing programs within our community.

Mr. Godfrey White

executive director

Mr. Godfrey P. White, Bayou Meets the Bay Classic Foundation’s Executive Director and Founder, is from the Bayou Country, specifically New Iberia, Louisiana. He has resided in Oakland, California from 1973 until leaving there in 2003 to return to Louisiana to help in the development and implementation of an effective “Get Out the Vote” Program for then, Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Blanco.

Mr. White would return to Oakland, CA after being part of a successful campaign. As a result, he was appointed by Governor Blanco as the Executive Director of Elderly Affairs of the Governor’s Office in 2004. He led that program with passion and compassion, implementing projects that would mitigate the problems Louisiana seniors experienced.

It would be near the end of his work with seniors that he became interested in pre-school children, early childhood education, and the obstacles many young families face that result in a lack of preparation for school and classroom readiness. This was the start of Mr. White’s desire to work on behalf of that population. He truly understands that a child with a sufficient pre-K education is most likely to live a productive life.

Members of the Bayou Meets The Bay Classic Foundation alongside members of the Sigma Iota Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity as they welcome parents and children into the first day of Pre-K and Kindergarten in an elementary school in Oakland, CA:

BMTB INSPIRATION:
A Little Note to Keep Us Focused
“Acts of Faith”

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is a process; working together is success.

Whether in business or personal relationships, what makes working together so difficult is the individual need to be right and to have things our way. As long as we have a position to hold on to we cannot come together. If we are not willing to bend, we will somehow get in the way. We must get clear about what we are doing, why we are doing it, and whom we are working with. Only with an honest examination of our motives and intent can we surrender to any working process. If we enter any collective agreement only for personal goals and with mental garbage, the stability of the group is jeopardized by our dishonest foundation. If we come together in clarity, we can stay together with respect and meet any goal successfully.

We empower children to succeed one classroom at a time.
